Unpopular opinion: rough woodies are more fun

Started by NoraNoLimits on Jun 18, 2026 1:10 PM

I dont mean painful, but a little shuffle and noise makes a coaster feel alive. Some new rides feel too sterile to me.

I think enthusiasts overuse the word forceless. Not every coaster is trying to be a blackout machine.

Mack rides feel expensive in the best way. Like the trains, profiling, audio, all of it feels finished.

The pacing is good but I dont love when every element is trying to be ejector. Sometimes its too much.

Gerstlauer can make wild layouts but yeah those restraints can turn a fun ride into a boxing match.

This is where I get annoyed with rankings. Everybody acts like there is one correct answer and there just isnt. I know folks wont like that but whatever.

GateKeeper gets too much hate. Its graceful and the keyholes are still cool even if thoosies pretend they arent.

I kinda agree but your underrating the first drop. A good drop can carry a whole ride for me.

I dont buy fast lane unless the park is already expensive enough that missing rides would ruin the trip.

TessaTalksTracks replied on Jun 20, 2026 5:04 AM

Capacity should count in rankings a little. A great ride that moves the line is a better park ride. Also sorry but that take is wild.

For night photos use a fence post or trash can as a fake tripod. Not elegant but it works lol.

Some unpopular opinions are just people trying to be different. But some classics really are overrated.

If you only care about airtime you miss half the hobby. Setting, sound, pacing, all that matters.

I like launch coasters but lift hills build suspense. A chain lift at sunset is unbeatable.
